Happy Birthday, Groucho!

Probably my fave comedian, with Duck Soup probably being my favorite comedy film. Peter and I traded emails the other day regarding Baby Boomer youth oriented films and it got me to thinking about movies that both represented and influenced my generation. I quickly came up with ten that were produced in the 60's and 50's, (which I'll probably wirte about someday), but then had to add two more - Casablanca and Duck Soup (and perhaps a couple more Marx Brothers' films as well...). Here were three vaudvillian brothers who created something that would echo for decades afterwards and keep them as contemporary as the latest album by Dylan or the latest routine by Carlin, or the latest film by Altman. An amazing accomplishment.
Master of the quip, merciless needler of the pompous. RIP, Captain Spaulding...
