The Exorcist was released on this date in 1973. For those of you not around, it was an amazing phenomena. Lines to theatres stretched around the block, little Linda Blair became the flavor of the month, tales of demonic intervention were rumored to plague the production (and shamelessly recounted by media flaks), Georgetown (where it was filmed) became a tourist hotspot at night, untold numbers converted to Catholicism, and every parent of a kid with a smart mouth was dragging them off to the priests to be drowned in Holy Water. Amazing stuff!
