Dave Edmunds performs I Hear You Knockin'

A great cover of the Smiley Lewis tune, (it was a minor hit for Edmunds in the Spring of '70 when he led a neat little band called Love Sculpture). The first time I got to see him was at a Blondie concert at Merriweather Post Pavillion. Unfortunately, their wretched hit, "Heart of Glass" had just broken through and the crowd was full of cultural philistines who only knew that one song, rather than the first two (great) albums. Rockpile had been added on to the show, unannounced, at the last moment. I was in heaven! Edmunds. Nick Lowe and Billy Bemner right there!!! The rest of the suburban Maryland crowd stood there listlessly like deer caught in the headlights, just waiting for their 3 minute top-40 disco, and totally ignored what was probably one of the top five rock bands going at that time. Pathetic wankers.
