I'm not as scholarly as the writer, either in regards to film, Elliott Gould, or the whole Brooklyn Jewish experience as it relates to baby boomer pop culture. I just know that back in the early and mid 70's, I considered Gould the coolest actor since Bogey. MASH, SPYS, Getting Straight, and The Long Goodbye - all are major or minor classics in my little psyche. I even liked his now-forgotten comedy series - E/R. Very neat stuff!
