I am extremely unhappy to see the article talking of a movie with the loathsome Tom Cruise playing von Stauffenberg. That means he and his fellow conspirators will be portrayed in a heroic light. Nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately, one must look long and deep to find a true anti-nazi opposition within Germany, and virtually all of its members were either liberal civilians or communists, and in microscopic numbers. The German army was as pro-nazi as anyone - as long as they were winning. It was only after they looked like they might lose the war and their precious Prussian estates that the senior officer corps turned chicken and tried, with incredible cowardice and incompetence, to get rid of schicklgruber. In a way, it was fortunate that they failed, most of the opportunists were caught, literally running away from a fight, and hung up like chickens, without so much as a shot being fired. So much for Prussian efficiency, honor, and warriorhood. And it saved us the trouble of doing the very same thing to them in 1945....

As one of the commenters points out, it's not exactly a new discovery. I can remember reading about the "fashion parade" assassination plot years ago. I think Shirer mentions it.
Tom Cruise playing von Stauffenberg? I wonder if he will try to work Scientologist overtones into the plot.
