RIP Roscoe Lee Browne

I loved this guy! Great presence, and what a voice! He should have gotten an Oscar for his work in The Cowboys*. Stole the show from John Wayne in his own movie - how many people have done that?
Unfortunately, he mostly played bit parts - mores the pity. Browne gave off an air of authority, education, calm, style, and most of all, wisdom. In other words, he played a grown up in a media too often dominated by clowns and frat boys. It's too bad he didn't go into public service, he was practically an archetype for what one would want in a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Secretary of State, or President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
*The scene between his character and a madame is one of my all-time favorite movie moments.
