Memorial Day

Unlike so many holdiays and occasions, I can't bring myself to say "Happy Memorial Day!"; it seems to me that that would come across as something stupid or obscene. It's an interesting date for several reasons - because it doesn't lend itself to easy commercialism, it honors the dead, and while there are ceremonies and parades, (especially around here), it seems to me that it favors most an individual interpretation. And it can be a source of questioning as well as rote ritual.
A quick search on the Internet will reveal many articles and speeches regarding the Day. This is a recent one I chanced upon that I enjoyed.
