"uniqueness" between humans & other animals is disappearing

I suspect what future times will bring is a more gradual and subtle definition of various types of mental abilities and traits (what we commonly and oversimply call "intelligence"). I still believe that such things as IQ are culturally based; and would also suggest that much of what we regard as intelligence is more defined based on having an opposable thumb than anything to do with our brains. We talk about finding "intelligent" life in the universe, but I wonder if we'd recognize it if we saw it...
