The Temps perform Ball of Confusion

A fun song about dangerous times. Reminds me so much of those days at TC. High school was always fun and challenging - if you had to go to the men's room, you'd crack the door open, and toss you wallet in first. All the resident thugs would immediately jump on it and start fighting over its contents, and maybe, MAYBE, that'd give you enough time to do your business and get out. "D" hall in the basement was the students' smoking area, and a free-fire zone. Casualties were immediately lost under a thick blanket of smoke and ash, never to be found. No adult ever ventured down that hall - ever. Skin color was paramount and depending on the time and the place, meant the difference between life and death. It was a school of immense contrast - geniuses and scholars, bed-wetters and psychopaths, shambling mutants and dopers, boppers, jocks, hippies, earth freaks, felons, revolutionairies, whores, junkies, gamblers, soldiers, cretins, jesus freaks, occultists, mystics, musicians, poets, painters, arsonists, demonologists, and white-bread republicans. And every hope, dream, scam and tragedy going on full-bore. We were the only school in Virginia whose student paper had a regular obituary column. And this song was a very neat part of it all. With my fave lyrics of all time: "Oh, great GoogaMooga, can't you hear me talkin' to ya". Yea, ball of confusion....
