I actually believe that there's something to this story. However, I don't believe the reason is that Winston is praising fascism, (a lot of people did), but because the letters contained offers for a truce/armistice after the disaster of the Summer of 1940. Letters that would influence history's view of Churchill as an indefatigable foe to the Axis. There's a lot of good second hand information about this. But we'll probably never get good first hand documentation that would prove such.
