The future influencing the past?

Hmmm. I know that one of my faves, Robert Anton Wilson explored some of this territory in his writings of the 70's and 80's. I may be missing some of the subtleties here, but I cannot believe that a human-scale historical event, (a fact, if you will), can change by being investigated in the present. This sounds to me more like a word game than science, (Like Xeno's Arrow).
