Yes, primitive times. But also times of plenty. Once, the land was covered with 8-tracks. Herds of them covered whole states, and when they were played, the ground thundered. But now they're an endangered species, reduced to a few small populations in carefully controlled preserves. But us elders of the tribe remember.....

Sadly, my family never got this cutting edge sophisticated. We merely had a solid plastic holder with meager fixed notches for the tapes. It was dark brown and had lots of teeth to grip to that transmission lump in the middle of our old blue Lincoln Mercury that was the size of a tank. The strangest part is that we didn't even have an 8-track player in that car! My mom bought the device simply to hold stuff. I recall her liking that it also had a tiny tissue dispenser and a little compartment for trash.
