One of my faves. A hometown boy who made good. In my opinion, one of the four Essential men of the Revolution.
I'll also point out that his home, Mt. Vernon, is one of my favorite historical sites, and one that I always recommend to visitors to DC. To a careful observer, it's one of those places that can tell you a lot about the guy who built it. It's also in one of the prettiest loacations in NoVa.
