I discovered him accidently, (by a fan playing his music on a little hand-held cassette player after a Ravi Shankar concert up in Baltimore that I attended), and I've been a minor fan ever since.  Ahead of his time - into Worldbeat about ten or fifteen years before the word/classification existed.
