George Harrison Box Set Coming Out

Sigh...I really want to like this, but the fact of the matter is that George was a maddeningly inconsistent artist.  All Things Must Pass was his only truly great album.  The ones following that are full of filler material.  Wonderwall is boring as hell, and Electronic Music is dreck.  There was an interview with George a few years before his death.  I forget the publication, although I suspect it may have been Goldmine Magazine.  It came across clearly that he wasn't 'hungry' for success or recognition, musically speaking, even the interviewer commented on that as an afterward to the article.  And I think that started immediately after ATMP.  He'd made his point - a great album with numerous hits and some fine songs that weren't; and after that, it was just a matter of doing whatever he wanted, generating maybe one hit per LP, without regard for much other than personal reasons.  There's nothing wrong with that, but there's also little reason to go out and spend bucks on it, either.  My recommendation is to definitely buy ATMP, and then get a Greatest Hits compilation.  You'll listen to them.  I doubt anyone is going to give most of this set more than one or two sittings, except for what's covered in my recommendation.
