Why, when I was your age...

I am told that Fairfax County, one of the wealthiest counties on Earth, have closed their schools today - because it's cold outside.  I can only assume it's because they consist of the only buildings in this region that have yet to install heating, (one is reminded of Douglas Adams' quote to primitives:  "The secret is to bang the rocks together, guys"). If it's not based on a cro magnon limitations, then it is one more piece of evidence that we've become hopelessly wussified.

All year long, vast sections of this society treats its progeny like little delicate snowflakes.  Now that the weather is perfect for such, they turn into hothouse orchids.
