RIP Jack Chick

I loved Chick comics - for reasons that would have appalled Jack. The ignorance, hatred, and simple-minded bigotry were always a gentle reaffirmation of my atheism. But, unlike, so many religious 'leaders', Jack was sincere. He really and truly believed in all that nonsense. Oh, he made money, I'm sure, but he gave away tons of stuff - free - in the hopes of converts. In the early and mid 70's these tracts were everywhere - bus seats, library shelves, mailboxes, and cafeteria tables. It was a marvel of low-key propaganda. He was no con, unlike the rest. Jack Believed.
