As I've written before, I get so tired and irritated with the hagiography over the officers' plot against hitler.  They were all for him as long as they were winning. But when they started losing, and their Prussian estates were in danger of being overrun by the people that they'd been trying to exterminate, they turned.  Even after gleefully swearing a personal oath to the corporal. 
The White Rose and a variety of leftists were the only real opposition to naziism in Germany.  The rest were sheep and supporters.
