You don't need any screenwriters, advisors, editors, or "punch-up" writers to put Dashiell's works on the big screen - just hist Humprhey Borgart or William Powell and Myrna Loy to read what he wrote and you've got a perfect picture. The guy created Nick & Nora (THE model of a perfect marriage), AND Sam Spade, (THE perfect model of a hero). Someday, I gotta write about the Maltese Falcon; it's a much more important movie than is generally recognized - and it's all from Hammett's writings.
