Ah, it was many decades ago, and I was only on the periphery. The hot rodders and their fans would meet at the parking lot of some low-rent shopping center near Oxon Hill. There'd be the usual drinking, cruising and bets. And then, at an unholy hour, the serious ones, (which I was not), would go down to Interstate 295, temporarily block it off (I am not kidding) and race for a mile or two; and then converge back at the parking lot to settle up. It was '78 and a period of romance, sorrow, danger and loss - a strange time. And Bruce released this tune and captured it all.
