Tower Records, RIP

Interesting, I kept my experiences at Tower to a minimum because I thought the selection was mediocre and the staff were often unhelpful to the point of rudeness. They always seemed much more interested in the latest psychedelic hair coloring than actually helping customers. What I found, was that the volume was taken up with absurd numbers of duplicates of the same titles. I could be wrong, (and I am only talking about Rock music, not the other genres), I only went to Foggy Bottom and Tysons about three times, Fair Lakes twice and Duke Street maybe half a dozen times over the course of 15 years. But I was never impressed. Joe's Record Paradise always struck me as superior, (although too far away for me to get to with any regularity): http://www.joesrecordparadise.com/index.html
