The history of candy corn
http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/10/30/an-oral-history-of-candy-corn-the-most-polarizing-confection-of-them-all/
I'm not a big candy eater, but find the hatred of candy corn to be puzzling, especially given all of the other goop that's being sold. At any rate, every Halloween I treat myself to half a dozen of them, and consider it one more thin reminder and connection to childhood.

I've always liked this place. It's nothing big or fancy, but kind of neat to browse around if you're in Old Town.

Hmmm, I don't think that the show readily lends itself to a game theme. To its credit, the plots were character driven, not goal oriented. I confess that this didn't seem real interesting to me.

Count Gore!
http://www.countgore.com/
With our entrance into the Halloween season, it's time for my annual endorsement and plug for THE online horror show, Creature Feature, starring DC's own Count Gore De Vol. It evolved out of his ghost host show on TV and is now a staple of the web, dealing with all forms of horror in all formats. I highly recommend it. Count Gore Rules!

Alexandra David-Neel & Her Tulpa
http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2013/10/a-creature-of-the-mind/
This is a fairly well known story in mystic circles. And it's a good one. But I have serious doubts as to this supposed ability. I would not be the first person to point out that if tulpas are real, then there really would constant and serious episodes with Santa Claus. Millions of children, laser-focused on a character, with a hundred years and billions of dollars in reinforcing marketing, etc. And yet - nothing.

The latest thoeries about rudolf hess
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/10336126/Nazis-offered-to-leave-western-Europe-in-exchange-for-free-hand-to-attack-USSR.html
I continue to believe that hess's voyage is one of the two or three great mysteries of the War, another being Churchill's attempts at negotiation with the axis from mid 1940 to mid 1941. This story touches on both, significantly. But I remain unconvinced of hess having official sanction or negotiating power. And his flight is all too dramatic, when official channels were conveniently available in Switzerland, Sweden, Spain and Portugal. I do think something was going on, on both counts, but the evidence is too slim, and the mysteries may never be solved.
